Amanda Pham is a student from Penn State University at Harrisburg who is currently majoring in Marketing. Her hobbies involve creating many things such as music, art, and videos; shopping, and going through social media platforms. She takes high consideration in many issues that the world is dealing with now. These include discrimination againsts minorities such as POC and LGBTQ+, climate change, and many more. Amanda is a firm believer of everyone having a right to be loved and respected in this world.
Parveen Kaur is a recent graduate from Sacramento State University. She majored in International Relations and plans to attend law school after taking a gap year. Currently, Parveen is working for the California State Legislature as a District Intern. She is passionate about climate change and works on promoting positive climate policy. Aside from climate change Parveen believes that we need to increase youth involvement in politics and is working on restarting her local political chapter for young adults. Her hobbies include reading and spending time with her cat.
Shriya Patel is in the junior year of high school at Shiloh High School in Snellville, GA. She wants to pursue a career in medicine as a cardiologist, and plan on majoring in biochemistry at Emory University. Her hobbies consists of baking, shopping, painting, and playing the violin. She is interested in the problems in healthcare, like inequality in pay from women and men. As well as the lack of consideration for low in-come families getting the same healthcare treatment as others who are financially stable. She also wants to make an impact on recent issues, such as gun violence laws and abortion laws. She is interested in a wide variety of things, but want to help fix the issues with current society. Whenever she isn't listening to music, she is probably asleep, other than that she is doing something productive.
Veronica Smigielski is an enthusiastic, life-long learner who recently graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems. Soon after graduating, she re-enrolled at Columbia College to obtain yet another Bachelor’s degree; this time in Cybersecurity. She is a jack of all trades with passions for programming, cooking, gardening and DIY crafts such as crocheting, modular origami, and candle making. Veronica believes that school, studying, and working creates a lot of stress on today’s youth which is an issue that should be further explored.
Jay is a second-year undergraduate student at Northeastern University in Boston, studying Business Administration, Economics, and Finance, set to graduate in 2024. He hopes to pursue a career in public sector finance and currently works as a finance associate in various political campaigns within Massachusets. Jay is very interested in federal, state, and local politics, and wishes to improve the representation of youth in government. Some issues he cares about include abolishing the age of candidacy restrictions and laws for federal, state, and local offices, securing LGBTQ+ rights, preventing and protecting against climate change, and reducing disparities between schools and school districts. Outside of his academics and work, Jay’s interests include watching Formula 1 races, drawing, and scrolling through Reddit.
Savitha Sithartha (She/Her)
Savitha is a second-year undergraduate student pursuing a biomedical sciences degree and Spanish and psychology minors at Texas A&M University. She is working towards acceptance into medical school and is passionate about being involved in and curious about the community and environment growing around her. She believes in advocating for legislation towards women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, higher wages, gun reform, and climate change. When she’s not scrolling through her YouTube playlist, she loves to code, practice her ASL, and sing Carnatic music.
I am a recent graduate of the University of Memphis where I double majored in Sociology and History with a minor in legal thought. I am a current first year student at Purdue University pursing my masters of business administration with a concentration in global business. I dedicated my entire undergraduate career to serving my college community in any capacity I could and I look forward to taking those skills even further with USYF. My hobbies include baking, reading, and traveling.
